Marklen Konurbaev
Marklen E. Konurbaev is a Professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University and Research Supervisor of the Department of Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication at the Financial University under the Government of Russia. He is a pupil and follower of the ideas of the outstanding Russian scholar, Professor Olga S. Akhmanova.
Initiated and actively participated in many educational projects in Russia, successfully employing Moscow State University graduates. Projects were conducted jointly with leading Russian companies: Gazprom, Inter RAO, Rosseti, Sberbank, Moscow Carnegie Centre, Big Four companies, MegaFon and others.
In 2004, he created his first company, which became the first linguistic boutique in Russia and is still active today. Another startup in 2007 was the first in Russia to develop interactive solutions for financial and non-financial corporate reporting. This company serves over 30 companies in the real economy sector each year. Then, under Marklen's leadership, the first and so far Russia's only computer-assisted translation tool, Marfa CAT, was created.
In 2017, he launched COSINES Pi, a platform for the international contest of conference interpreters, in which 800+ interpreters from more than 25 countries participated in 5 years. The freelance professional reputation tool was then significantly refined by Marklen and his team and a new platform was developed to measure benchmarks within certain professions that are predominantly represented by freelancers — the Benchrating.com benchmarking navigator. The formulas at the base of the platform will give the market an excellent tool to improve the competitiveness of the industry and the transparency of the business reputation of freelancers.
