Graduated from the M. Thorez Moscow State Institute of Foreign Languages twice: from the English faculty and a two-year higher interpretation course headed by G. Chernov. She completed two MBA courses at Duke University in the USA. After graduation, she worked with specialized agencies of the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, with USAID projects, TACIS, the European Commission, and in banking: Credit Suisse First Boston, Goldman Sachs, Rosbank, Development bank, and Raiffeisenbank.
Marina Fokina worked with virtually all blue-chip Russian and foreign companies: Gazprom and its subsidiaries, LUKOIL, Rosneft, Caspian Pipeline Consortium, ConocoPhillips, Shell, Total, Chevron.
She developed and for 16 years has been teaching a special course for employees of oil and gas companies: Salym Petroleum, Litasco, Gazprom Dobycha Yamburg, Severgazpromneft. For Tengizchevroil, she gave an intensive course in Atyrau twice, and led a special course at NLMK.
